Stalybridge has its very own Recreation Centre at Copley. This is attached to the local High School. There are Swimming Pools, a Multi-Gym and large Sports Halls (as well as a Bar and Catering facilities) all of which can be booked for private functions.

The town boasts two large public parks, namely Cheethams Park and Stamford Park. Cheethams Park hosts the rather impressive Eastwood Nature Reserve Bird Sanctuary, whilst Stamford Park is famed for its beautifully laid out flower displays and Boating Lake.

Also, walks alongside the canal and in the local Countryside Park are a favourite pastime. As as listening to our local Stalybridge Brass Band at local festivals and Whitsuntide Holidays.

There are numerous restaurants, public houses, bars and clubs in the town, which offer a variety of facilites from computer clubs to Country and Western Line Dancing!!

The town has its very own cinema, namely 'The Palace', which shows all the latest releases, and the films are usually over before 'last orders'.

Not forgetting our own Stalybridge Celtic Football Team.  They play from the stadium at Bower Fold.There are also under 9's and under 12's football teams for any aspiring David Beckhams amoungst our local children.
