Activities in Stalybridge

Stalybridge has its very own Recreation Centre at Copley. This is attached to one of the local High Schools. There are Swimming Pools, a Multi-Gym and large Sports Halls (as well as a Bar and Catering facilities) all of which can be booked for private functions.

There are numerous restaurants, public houses, bars and clubs in the town, which offer a variety of facilities from computer clubs to Country and Western Line Dancing!!

The town even had its very own cinema, namely 'The Palace', memories of which are fond but this has recently closed and re-opened as a nightclub called Rififi.

The Palace Cinema  - now converted to the Rififi Nightclub.            

The Cosmo Bingo Hall off Waterloo Road (next to the bus station) is open every day and evening with great national prizes.

Not forgetting our own Stalybridge Celtic Football Team.  They play from the stadium at Bower Fold. There are also under 9's and under 12's football teams for any aspiring David Beckham's amongst our local children.

The town boasts two large public parks, namely Cheethams Park and Stamford Park. Cheethams Park hosts the rather impressive Eastwood Nature Reserve Bird Sanctuary, whilst Stamford Park is famed for its beautifully laid out flower displays and Boating Lake.

Also, walks alongside the canal and in the local Countryside Park are a favourite pastime. As as listening to our local Stalybridge Brass Band at local festivals and Whitsuntide Holidays.
