On 26th August 1973, officially opened by Harold Wilson - Stalybridge Labour Club opened up its doors and has provided our town with 40 years of wonderful times for the whole community, hosting many events over the years including the Brass Band competition! Townsfolk and members gathered to celebrate the club, which included Stalybridge Old Band playing outside the club all afternoon, bouncy castle slide for the children and a barbeque. Singing and dancing throughout the day, with fantastic artists inside as well as some of the locals giving a song or two. At 7pm, the price of beer dropped to 73p in honour of the 1973 opening - for 73 minutes! Certificates of recognition for service to the club were presented by the committee and Kevin Welsh. Artists performed inside the club and late into the evening, ending with a potato pie supper! Wonderful - Thank you to all concerned at the club for a fantastic day!
